Speaker’s Biography Graduated from Physics Department, Fudan University in 1982, received joint doctor's degree from Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tohoku University Japan in 1989 and did postdoctoral researches at Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics from 1989 to 1992. He was Doctoral Supervisor, Executive Vice Director (Legal Representative) and Director of Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, Director of Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, Assistant to the President of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Head of Preparatory Group of Optics and Electronics Group, CAS and President of Academy of Opto-electronics, CAS. He was Vice President of CAS, CPC party member and Director of Academy of Opto-electronics, CAS and Director of State Key Laboratory of Applied Optics in January 2005. He was Deputy Minister and CPC Member of the Ministry of Science and Technology from September, 2006. |

Speaker’s Biography Michael Maskos is a German scientist in the field of Chemical Process Engineering / Microfluidics, a professor at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (JGU), and the Director of Fraunhofer ICT-IMM. Under the leadership of Dr. Maskos, Fraunhofer ICT-IMM has successfully aided the development of 16 high-tech enterprises. Fraunhofer ICT-IMM belongs to the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology, which is the largest European institute engaged in applied research. JGU is one of the top ten universities in Germany and takes the leading role in the field of materials science. Dr. Maskos’ current research interests focus on the fields of applied micro process engineering and polymeric nanomaterials. |

Speaker’s Biography Peter Mascher obtained a PhD in Engineering Physics in 1984 from the Graz University of Technology (TUG) in Austria and joined McMaster University in 1989. He is a professional engineer and a professor in the Department of Engineering Physics, and holds the William Sinclair Chair in Optoelectronics. Since 2014 he is overseeing McMaster’s International Portfolio as Associate Vice-President, International Affairs. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and the Electrochemical Society and since 2015, an Honorary Professor at Nanjing Tech University. Dr. Mascher leads active research groups involved in the fabrication and characterization of thin films for optoelectronic applications, the development and application of silicon-based nanostructures, and the characterization of defects in solids by positron annihilation spectroscopy. He has supervised more than 70 graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, has authored or coauthored close to 250 publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings, and has presented many invited lectures at international conferences and workshops. He currently serves as Awards Chair of the Dielectric Science and Technology Division of the Electrochemical Society and as Vice-Chair of Nano Ontario. |
